It’s Sunday Morning. What was your excuse this week?

I got up this morning to let the dog out and I logged onto Twitter because I wasn’t on much yesterday. I was off and on just to do some stuff on my author account. And as I perused a few of the trending topics, I went down a couple of fitness rabbit holes… oh, and it appears that Sunday is the day where everyone makes their excuses for why they didn’t do what they said they were going to do last week.

Here’s a few of the really great ones that I read in just about 10 minutes this morning.:

  • I had to go shopping for school clothes and that took too much out of me.
  • My husband rolled his ankle and I couldn’t workout (huh?)
  • Its was just too hot
  • I was too sore from Monday, so I took the week off.

Okay fine. How about you say, “I didn’t want to work out.”

But we’ve all been there. We’ve all made excuses. We’ve all Justified why eating a whole thing of ice cream was either needed or deserved. And hey man whatever you want to do live your life. I get it.  That’s cool. I did it for a while. But I’ve learned that just because you justify something doesn’t mean it was the right decision.

My garage is an absolute nightmare. As we approach the end of the summer. I have stuff all over the place. I’ve got kayaks piled up on the left. I’ve got boxes piled up on the right. I’ve got unreturned recyclable cans piled up in the back. I got three mountain bikes laying against the shelves. I’ve got chainsaws and power tools that need to be put away. I mean it’s totally my fault because I haven’t cleaned the garage in like 4 months. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a pain in the ass.

The point is I still found room to get my heavy bag up and workout. I found room for the battle ropes. I found room for the speed bag. And once I get my ass in gear and clean up the garage then it’ll be a lot more comfortable place to work out. But I’m getting my workouts in. A year ago I don’t know if I could have said that. I probably would have used the garage as an excuse. Now it may have been an excuse to avoid working out…. but it would have been a justification of not putting in the effort elsewhere. Because if I’m not going to work out I might as well drink beer right?

All right that’s enough of that. Just had to get that off my chest. Yesterday was a pretty good day. We got a lot done in town. My wife bought those sports bras! We woke up early and got our workouts in and then ran some errands and it was blistering hot yesterday. It was 99 when we got home. So we didn’t do a lot in the afternoon.

But yesterday would have been a perfect day to make excuses. We were busy. It was hot. And we have to pack for our camping trip. But we still got our work out in. Today is supposed to be a rest day as all Sunday’s usually are. But I think I’ll probably do something workoutish today. Even if I just lift weights for half an hour. Because I probably won’t get much of a workout in on Monday Tuesday or Wednesday.

Although I’m pretty sure that camping with a nine-year-old boy and a 15 week old puppy counts as work out.

Peace
