What you do in the dark, shines in the light.

What you do in the dark, shines in the light.

I don’t know who the first to say that was but it’s been around coaching and athletics for years. In other words, you have to maintain your actions and remember goals even when no one’s watching.

Because hey when you’re trying to quit drinking or quit smoking or start eating better, it is always about choice. Sure, one cookie isn’t gonna kill you. And probably not one more…. Or another…. But are the helping?

To me, that’s what all of this effort and all of this struggle is about. It comes down to one question :

Is what I am about to (eat, drink, do) HURTING my progress or helping my progress? There is no middle ground. You might think to yourself that there is a 3rd option. An option that is neutral. It’s neither helping nor hurting. But that is not the case.

The reason is because your body is a machine and every single choice, no matter how infinitesimal, does SOMETHING in your body. It’s never neutral. It’s either fuel or wasted. It’s either quality or crap.

Case in point : Me this week.

Between camping and coming home tired and kind of lazy, I did not lose or gain weight. I stayed flat for the week. I didn’t do anything wrong this week…. But I didn’t do much right.

I have to live the next week anyway. The choices made will determine whether I am improving or faltering.

If you stand still, you aren’t moving forward.

Peace
